OPEN CALL HISTODAY 2026

NO TIME TO FORGET. Remembrance for Democracy

May 7-8, 2026 · Berlin

Remembering the crimes of National Socialism is not just about looking back, it is also vital to protecting the future of our democracy, which is under enormous pressure today. Antisemitism, historical revisionism, polarization and global crises demand new answers. Remembrance can contribute to the strength and resilience of our democracy.

In this form, we ask specifically about the content you would like to share, discuss and develop further at HISTODAY 2026. Your contributions can focus on three areas:

  1. Challenge accepted – What do we remember? How can we learn to see diverse perspectives on the past as enriching and connect them rather than set them against one another?
  2. Diversity welcomed – Who remembers? Who decides what will be remembered in the future, how it will be remembered, and why? Who needs more resources and attention to shape memories in the future?
  3. Methods in practice – How does remembrance happen? Which new methods, formats and tools are especially suited to foster critical and inclusive remembrance today and in the future?
