To mark its 25th anniversary, the EVZ Foundation is launching a special funding program: NO TIME TO FORGET.
It is aimed at survivors of Nazi persecution from the countries of the former Soviet Union who now live in Germany – people whose lives have been marked by war, a lack of recognition of their history of persecution, and a new beginning. With this anniversary program, the EVZ Foundation is sending a message of recognition and solidarity: now is the time to give these survivors support and dignity.
With the anniversary funding program “KEINE ZEIT ZU VERGESSEN” (No Time to Forget), we are focusing on people with special stories: elderly survivors of NAZI persecution from the countries of the former Soviet Union who now live in Germany. Their life stories are often marked by suffering and deprivation: they endured persecution and violence during the Second World War, often found no official recognition of their fate in the Soviet Union, lived in poverty and social marginalization, and finally ventured into a foreign country—Germany—where they had to reorient themselves and assert themselves once again.
These people embody resilience and courage in a special way. They deserve not only our respect, but also specialized, culturally sensitive support.
The aim is to improve their material and social living conditions and to provide them with targeted support in a life situation often marked by poverty in old age. In view of profound social and geopolitical challenges, supporting these elderly survivors remains a moral obligation and an expression of historical responsibility for the EVZ Foundation.
In our anniversary year, we renew our promise: we stand alongside former forced laborers and survivors of National Socialism. They deserve attention, specific help in old age, respect, and a society that listens and acts. This is the core of our humanitarian work today and our historical responsibility
